    AMERESCO is searching for a dedicated individual experienced and knowledgeable with the innerworkings of municipalities who would like to join the best development team in the energy business and lead its Canadian development of municipal business. This includes the social housing portfolio.

    This position will report to the Canadian VP of Business Development & Distributed Resources. Some travel will be required.

    Responsibilities

    Doing what you would love to do which is:

    • Developing innovative energy generation and conservation solutions for Canadian municipal clients that have large energy and operational costs and have a sincere desire to lower their energy related operational costs while reducing or eliminating their carbon footprint.
    • Leading the strategic and on the ground business development activities to generate business from Canada’s municipal sector.
    • Working with Ameresco Geographic Business Developers to secure new and grow existing municipal accounts.
    • Setting and achieving National and Geographic sales, account, and carbon reduction goals.
    • Developing, packaging, and marketing energy and carbon reduction solutions pertinent to the Canadian Municipal sector that leverage Ameresco’s unique proven and emerging technology solutions.
    • Setting annual budgets and plans for marketing activities directed at the Canadian Municipal sector
    • Overseeing and participating in the successful development, organization, strategic positioning, preparation, and issuance of winning proposals and presentations.
    • Cultivating positive and effective business relationships inside and outside of the organization through networking and other events.
    • Performing other duties as required to help the Business Development team achieve its objectives.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s Degree.

    10 years proven leadership experience within the Canadian municipal sector cultivating, securing, and implementing large scale energy-oriented projects.

     

    Additional Preferred Qualifications:

    A sincere personal desire to want to help the world address its climate crisis from both a business and social perspective.

    Excellent verbal, written, technical, and computer communication and presentation skills. 

    Proven ability to develop relationships with key decision makers and influencers at the executive level.

    Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of project proposal and contract terms.

    Advanced MS Office proficiency within Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

    Excellent verbal, written, technical, and computer communication and presentation skills. 

    Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and business relationships.

    Valid Drivers’ License in good standing, issued by province of residence.

    Advanced Education (i.e. MS, MBA, PEng).

    Certified Energy Manager

    Strategic planning, budgeting, and organizational resource management experience.

    Knowledge of energy analysis software.
